Replay
Replay
Summary: Replay is a built-in feature of the game client that lets you record your play session as a small, replayable file, then watch it back later using a separate Replay client. It works the same way on every server, since it's part of the client itself rather than something Comodo Party configures.
Recording a Session
- Open the Rec panel from the button near your Basic Info window.
- This opens a small recording control panel with three buttons: start recording, open recording options, and close the panel.
- Click the middle Options button to choose what gets included in the recording:
- Basic Info
- Equipment
- Items
- Skills
- All Chat
- Party Chat
- Guild Chat
- Shortcuts
- You can set a custom filename, and choose whether the client should block duplicate filenames or overwrite an existing recording with the same name.
- Hit Start to begin recording. Changing maps does not stop the recording, only clicking Stop ends it.
Info
The finished file is saved as a .rrf inside the Replay folder of your game install directory. The exact save path will also appear in your in-game chat log in orange text after you stop recording.
Watching a Replay
- From the game launcher, choose the Replay option instead of the normal login button. This opens a separate Replay client.
Warning
If background music, sound effects, or skill effects are turned off in your normal client, they'll also be off in the Replay client. Re-enable them in your normal client first if you want sound during playback.
- A list of your saved
.rrffiles will appear, pick the one you want to watch.
- Playback controls appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen:
- Begin / Pause
- Speed control (x1/4, x1/2, x1, x2, x4)
- Reset
- Exit back to the file selection screen
Limitations
Replay files don't store actual video or audio, they store game data (positions, actions, chat) and re-simulate it using your client's sprites, maps, and sounds. This keeps file sizes tiny, but also means playback depends on having matching game assets.
Warning
A replay recorded on an older client will usually still play on a newer one, but a replay recorded on a newer client may fail to play correctly, or at all, on an older one. If your client's assets have changed significantly since a replay was recorded, expect it to look wrong or not load.
Reporting Misconduct
Since a replay captures exactly what happened on your screen, including chat, it can be used as evidence when reporting rule-breaking behavior (cheating, harassment, scamming, etc.) to a GM.
Tip
If you're recording specifically to report something, make sure All Chat is enabled in the recording options beforehand, chat logs are often the clearest evidence in a report.
