Homunculi
Homunculi
Summary: A Homunculus is a summoned partner unique to the Alchemist class line, fighting alongside its master, tanking hits, or providing support depending on the type chosen. Keeping it fed and happy raises its Intimacy, which unlocks stronger skills and eventually lets it evolve.
Creating a Homunculus
Only Alchemists and their advanced classes can create a Homunculus, after completing the required job quest to unlock the Homunculus skill branch.
- An Embryo is required to summon a Homunculus, either bought from another Alchemist or made using the Prepare Potion skill with a set of alchemist materials. Success is affected mainly by the Alchemist's DEX and LUK.
- Once an Embryo is ready, use Call Homunculus to summon it. Only one Homunculus can be active at a time, summoning a new one abandons the current one.
- There are four base Homunculus types, each tied to a specific food item:
| Homunculus | Type | Food |
|---|---|---|
![]() Amistr |

![]() Vanilmirth |
Magic Formless Neutral |

Feeding and Intimacy
A newly summoned Homunculus starts at 20 Intimacy (Awkward). From there, its Hunger value slowly drops over time and must be managed through feeding.
| Hunger Range | Result of Feeding |
|---|---|
| Starving, below 1% | -1 Intimacy every 200 seconds while unfed |
| 1% to 10% | +0.5 Intimacy |
| 11% to 25% | +1 Intimacy (full gain) |
| 26% to 75% | +0.75 Intimacy |
| 76% to 90% | -0.05 Intimacy |
| 91% to 100% | -0.5 Intimacy |
- Letting Hunger stay below 11 (starving) or feeding too often (overfeeding) causes Intimacy to drop over time.
- If Intimacy drops below 0, the Homunculus leaves its master permanently. A new one can still be created afterward.
- Auto Feed can be toggled in the Homunculus status window to handle feeding automatically.
Info
Intimacy is not affected by the Homunculus dying, being vaporized, or the player dying. Only starving or overfeeding lowers it.
Intimacy Levels
| Intimacy Range | Level |
|---|---|
| 0 to 100 | Hate |
| 101 to 250 | Awkward |
| 251 to 750 | Shy |
| 751 to 910 | Neutral |
| 911 to 1,000 | Loyal |
Reaching Loyal unlocks the Homunculus's strongest skill and is required before it can be evolved.
Skills and Stats
- Homunculi gain 1 skill point for every 3 levels, which can be freely assigned to any of their available skills.
- Homunculus stats grow automatically as it levels, separate from the skill points spent.
Evolution
Once a Homunculus reaches Loyal Intimacy, it can be evolved using a Stone of Sage.
- Evolving grants a random +1 to +10 bonus to each stat, additional HP and SP, and a new sprite.
- Intimacy resets to Hate immediately after evolving.
- Reaching 910 Intimacy again after evolving unlocks a fourth skill that was not available before.
Warning
If a Homunculus is lost due to starving, evolution progress and any unlocked skills are lost along with it. A new Homunculus always starts from scratch.
Homunculus Tablet
An NPC named Oppenheimer, found in Al De Baran's Alchemist Guild, sells a supplement that instantly raises Homunculus Intimacy.
Go to and talk to Oppenheimer.
Buying a Homunculus Tablet costs 150,000 zeny and instantly raises your active Homunculus's Intimacy by 50 points.
Warning
This purchase is limited to once every 24 hours, and the cooldown is shared across your entire account. Buying one on any character locks out every other character on that account until the timer resets.
Experience and Leveling
- If a Homunculus alone kills a monster, its master gets full Base Experience but no Job Experience, and the Homunculus gets the full experience from that kill.
- If the master kills a monster without the Homunculus contributing, the master gets full Job Experience and the Homunculus gets nothing.
- If both the master and the Homunculus deal damage to the same monster, both get a share of experience based on the damage each one dealt.
- If the master dies while the Homunculus is above 80% HP, it is automatically vaporized. Below 80% HP, it stays out and keeps fighting, but can no longer be given manual commands.
